Viewing Post for: Everest Base Camp #1 & #2

Date: Tuesday, October 16
Location: Device again. We hiked up to 15,500 feet for lunch

Happy Birthday Jean Claude! Thanks for following us so diligently.

Today was an acclimatation day. We hiked towards the sheer south face of Lhotse. Close to 3 miles directly above our heads. Stunning! We sat in a warm glassed in restaurant and had pizza.

People felt the affects of the altitude a bit more today. A bit tired, weak... but they are doing well.

Bob is doing okay on his rest day. He will be going direct to Periche tomorrow and waiting for us there on Friday. We have a big jump in elevation tomorrow and wisdom is to keep him here at same elevation and he will be fine . We will miss him.

Mike took a swim today. Wow! Cold!

Getting down to the last few days of climbing. Get serious tomorrow.

You've done this altitude before: you know you can do it again. We are all visualizing you up there: you do the same and you've got it. Rest well, drink lots and you will stay strong!

I just come back from Paris where I had diner with some friends for my birthday, every body was interested by your trek with your group, "Car, quand on trekke, on ne raisonne plus en kilomètres parcourus, mais en heures de marche ou en mètres de dénivelée". Alain, Elisabeth, Erwan et Clémence te transmettent leurs amitiés. Je te souhaite bon courage pour demain ! Lots of love !

TJ and Torey, good to see the post, I have been wondering how you are doing. I hope you are taking it slow and easy. Quote of the day- "Strength doesn't come from what you can do.It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't do". You both amaze us with all you have done, and we couldn't be prouder of all your successes. Jacquie is with you and the three of you make an incredible team. Be well, stay safe and warm. We love you very much! Sharon and Forever Jacquie
