Bob Ames
Volunteer, Helper, Adventurer

As you read this, Bob Ames is probably working to make life better for someone. After 32 years as a high school math teacher, he has embraced retirement in a way that many of us can only dream of. Volunteerism, travel, and a physically and spiritually fit lifestyle keep him and his wife, Sue, quite busy these days. We at Pack Paddle Ski have gotten to know him over the past few years as a helper on many of our day trips and, more recently, as the email newsletter mailing list guru.

While PPS feels very fortunate to be one of the recipients of Bob's assistance, others are much more worthy. He is a weekly volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in the Rochester area and has traveled worldwide as a Habitat volunteer. His work has taken him to St. John's in the Virgin Islands, Italy, Spain, and, closer to home, three times to Louisiana. He is currently planning a return trip to Louisiana, while Sue is working on a visit to Guatamala for them. When he is home in Fairport, NY, he is busy driving senior citizens to medical appointments or volunteering as a financial advisor to low-income people through an effort called C.A.S.H. (Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope), not to mention being a smiling face in the PPS office regularly.

Amazingly, Bob takes time for himself as well. He and Sue have just returned from an ashram in the Bahamas, one of the wellness retreats they attend yearly. He is an avid cross country skier in the winter, and in the summer, he has been working on his sea kayak skills with PPS for the past couple of years. Bob and Sue came with us rafting on the Hula Hula River in Alaska this past June.

We are so thankful for all Bob does for us at Pack Paddle Ski! It would not be the company it is today without helpers like him. Thank you, Bob!
