Mount Kilimanjaro

WHY IS CLIMBING KILI DIFFERENT WITH PPS? WE CONNECT. WE CARE.
(read carefully, the fine print is a huge difference when you set foot on Kilimanjaro, maybe not in your life but at least in your experience.)

*We connect with you
You will be talking, deciding, preping, and meeting for the experience with someone who has been there many times. In addition, you will get advice from the point of view of someone who has lead trips on all seven continents for over 25 years . This is not a middle man passing you on. If you need to know how hard the hike is, how you will feel at 19,000 feet, how cold it will be, what to bring, what shots to get, is it dangerous, how much to tip.the answers come from personal experience, and a great deal of it. Most people become our friends by the time we are done. You end up traveling with a friend not a travel agency. We help you select the experience that matches your needs.

*We connect with the lives of the Africans who travel with you.
PPS sponsored a trip to the US for our African guide to live, work and experience the culture in America. He is professionally educated in Africa to be a guide (sponsored by his many past clients for 1 and one half years of college). We did this to help bridge the gap in the cultures in addition to believing in improving the lives of those we work with. Your guide meets you at the airport, stays with you the whole way...safari, town, & climb. His staff are his friends, who have been trained and working with him for years on the mountain. They are not randomly selected as most groups are from the hordes waiting for a job at the gate.
We support Yusuf and his staff with additional salary. Most companies are about the competition between companies. If you choose this type of process, the porters and the guides suffer. They are the ones whose salary is cut to offer cutthroat $ competition. The average salary you will be supporting if you choose use another company is about $25 per porter for the whole expedition. That is just plain wrong. For a few hundred more dollars, you can take care of the staff that will take care of you all the way up the mountain.

*We connect with land and culture of Africa.
Share in a visit to towns, markets or even Yusuf's family as an extension. Small things like toilets on the mountain, food you are used to eating, quality tents and safe care of the porters. Several years ago 5 porters died of exposure because they lacked proper equipment. Support safe care of porters, even if you do not go with us. Learn some Swahili on the trip. You will be treated with more respect and gain more insight into your travels. Care of the mountain. It is fragile. Yusuf will help you interpret the life in Africa. He has been trained, but mostly it comes from his heart.

TRAVELING TO KILIMANJARO WITH PPS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. THERE ARE OTHER CHOICES. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO TALK WITH THEM, TALK WITH US AND OUR PAST CLIMBERS AND THEN DECIDE. EDUCATE YOURSELF. YOUR TRAVELS WILL AFFECT MANY LIVES. AFFECT THEM POSITIVELY. OUR NUMBERS PER YEAR ARE LIMITED. CONTACT US EARLY TO SEE IF YOU CAN BE INCLUDED.
