Journeys of Inspiration

40 Cancer Survivors and Supporters will Summit Mt. Kilimanjaro with Renewed Hearts

Background...
For many of the participants of Journeys of Inspiration it began while reading the fall edition of the Pack Paddle Ski Adventure News. Our friend Rick French, AKA Rocky, wrote one of his rambling letters to all his friends. In his letter he talked of watching friends and loved-ones being diagnosed with Cancer. He marveled at the strength he saw and was well aware of how Cancer has touched so many. We all know that Cancer does not simply affect the one who receives the diagnosis. Rick talked about what it would be like to form a 'community' of sorts. This would be a community in which all could share in the celebration of life and life's adventures. It was his thought that the community would truly develop as we move towards our goal and he promised that one day, we would be at the top of Africa's highest point, Kilimanjaro!

Moving on with the dream…
Yes, visualize a stream of forty people whose lives have been affected by Cancer joining from all four directions on Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, at sunrise! The climbers have full knowledge that when they reach this summit, each will have so many loved-ones there in spirit. The mission statement states that the Journeys of Inspiration community will strive to develop support for each other, spread awareness, fund the Cancer fight, and celebrate the beauty and goodness of life. This is truly a group of people who want to share life and life's adventures!

The strategy is to use the awe and beauty of nature, the inspiring challenges it can provide, as well as the healing qualities of its peace and beauty to create a community of people to celebrate and reinforce the goodness of life.

More specific details…
The goal of funding the Cancer fight is $100,000, and this is well on the way to being a reality. All of the Cancer donations will be given to the American Cancer Society.
