DESCRIPTION:
Don't just tour the Emerald Isle, experience it firsthand! Leave the tour buses behind as we travel on foot through some of the most rugged and breathtaking landscapes in all of Ireland – Connemara and County Mayo. With our Irish guide we'll show you places not found in any guide book. We will be in the “Gaeltacht,” a region designated for its ancient language and traditional Irish culture. We will hike past iron-age ring forts, remote religious shrines, and megalithic tombs while on our way to breathtaking views of mountains, beaches, bogs, and sea. After a day of hiking, we will return to our farmhouse inn for a hearty meal and, as always, a story or two. Irish hospitality is legendary here. Evenings include trips to local villages for shopping, libation, music, and maybe a step dance or two.
This trip accommodates a wide range of abilities. Hikes range from easy walks around harbors to challenging ascents, depending upon your comfort level. Our guides can help you explore your interests, from ancient legends to flora, from fishing to photography.
