DESCRIPTION:
This is the western outpost of the Nordic countries and the eastern extremity of the Innuit community along the icy shores of the Arctic Ocean. Here you come face to face with the contrast of 1000 year old Innuit culture and the modern world. Most of all Greenland is an overpowering sense of nature. Magnificent and ever changing. It is one the last areas of the world unblighted by sign post and path in the wilderness. In the south, the largest rock faces in the world, vast pack ice, calving glaciers, fells and ice caps can encompass one trip of a week. Extreme environment for the most adventurous people. Norse ruins and sheep farms dot the area at the outer edges of the Fjords. Whales, seals and the occasion polar make this extreme environment their home. You can only access Greenland these days from Denmark. Only the most discriminating adventures will make the flight as it has been throughout history.

Greenland has a potential for outdoor adventures that very few places on this planet can match. The breathtaking Arctic scenery is almost endless on the world's largest island, and with a total population of only 55,000 you are truly on your own as soon as you leave one of the small towns and settlements. Human civilization is the exception in this country. The mountains, valleys, rivers and gigantic ice cap are practically virgin land. Hikers will experience unspoiled scenery no matter where and how. On this trip you will explore both the untouched lands of Greenland that have drawn the hardiest of adventurers from all over the world and the historic Norse Lands. Stay in the land where exiled Norseman, Eric the Red made his home.
