DESCRIPTION
Willkommen!! You will be hiking Hut to Hut in the Austrian Alps next summer with a bunch of adventurous women! Stride through alpine meadows of beautiful flowers. Gaze on glaciers at close range as you relax on sunny terraces of your hut. If you want an active vacation where you experience the Alps, not just look at them, then this trip is for you. With just a plane flight, a train ride and a short walk, you will arrive in the bustling town of Mayrhofen. You will catch up on some sleep and warm up with a hike before heading out for 7 days on the trail. The total trip is 12 days.

If you like to hike but do not want to carry a tent or heavy pack then this is the trip for you. You will only need to carry a sleeping bag, raingear, and some extra clothes, as the huts are warm, dry and cozy. They also will serve us our meals so we do not need to carry food, stoves, or pots. Hut to hut hiking is perfect for you if you have backpacked but want to lighten your load or if you have day-hiked and want to extend your range.

The section of the Austrian Alps we will use is 3 hours south of Munich, Germany by train. It lies so close to the Italian border from some of the huts you can see Italy in the distance. What does hut to hut hiking mean? It means panoramic views, hundreds of scenic waterfalls, alpine meadows full of flowers. The accommodations vary with each hut, but all huts have cold running water and indoor toilets. Some huts even have hot showers! All of them are immaculately clean. Some huts have two people to a room, some have bunk rooms, some a large shelf of mattresses to sleep on. Some huts have histories dating back to the 1880s mixed with modern solar panels. They are all set in breathtaking locations. Each one looks like a postcard.

You should expect pleasant active days of walking. The distances between huts vary from 2 hours to 4 hours of hiking. We have selected huts that are spaced so you should have time to relax each day or you may hike to other points from your hut once you arrive. The maximum elevation gain in one day is less than 3000 feet. If you are interested in the hiking difficulty, we suggest that you call us. Your Pack Paddle Ski guides will help you with the language, provide insights into the culture and help you understand the food. Apple strudel, delicious bread and a variety of cheeses will provide you with plenty of energy for hiking. If you enjoy Wienerschnitzel and Bratwurst you are in luck. However, there are plenty of vegetarian options as well. We will have a limited group size, so register early.
